The 13th IFToMM World Congress took place in the city of Guanajuato, on June 19 - 25, 2011. This congress is held every 4 years and it is the largest conference for mechanism and machine science. The aim of the congress is to gather researchers, scholars, practitioners and students with interests in the general area of the theory and practice of machines and mechanisms.

Prof. Weizhong Guo, Dr. Chunxiang Ma and Dr. Yi Yue from School of Mechanical Engineering attended the conference and declared their dissertations. On behalf of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Prof. Weizhong Guo presented to the executive committee of IFToMM and confirmed that SJTU won the bid for 2nd Students International Olympiad on Mechanism and Machine Science, SIOMMS2013.

Besides presentations and academic exchange, SJTU delegation sent brochures on 2nd IFToMM International Symposium on Robotics and Mechatronics, ISRM 2011, which will be held in SJTU this November, and expressed their welcome to all participants. Meanwhile, on behalf of Prof. Feng Gao from School of Mechanical Engineering, associate editor of Mechanism and Machine Theory, Prof. Weizhong Guo joined Editor Lunch and listened 2010 Work Report.

Prof. Weizhong Guo delivered the blueprint for SIOMMS 2013 to IFToMM Executive Committee on its work conference, June 23, 2011 and answered the questions given by the committee. SIOMMS2013 will be held on April 19-21, 2013, when SJTU is celebrating its 117 anniversary and the ME is celebrating its 100 anniversary, and will surely be given great support from both university and school. Chaired by Prof. Marco CecCarelli, the committee approved that SJTU won the bid.
