On Dec 9, Paul J. Piccolomini, Vice President of Research and Development, Tyco Fire & Security received the certificate of appointment from Prof. Ming Su, Vice Secretary of CPC of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and was employed as Guest Professor of SJTU in VIP meeting room of Administration Building A.

Since April 2007, Mr. Piccolomini has been Vice President of Research and Development, Tyco Fire & Security. He contributes a lot to SJTU and its students: he plays a leadership role in setting up Global Student Engineering Program and takes the courageous step of uniting university and enterprises to carry out global engineering education together; he actively organizes and take part in the whole evaluation process of SJTU-Tyco Scholarship; he promotes scientific research cooperation between SJTU and Tyco; he provides suggestions and supports to 2010 SJTU-Tyco US Summer School; he makes his continuous effortes in creating and further strengthening cooperations between SJTU and enterprises and helping SJTU establish ties with Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Northeastern University and other universities.

After the appointment ceremony, both sides agreed that taking the advantage of Tyco's rich experiences in Fire & Security, further cooperation on graduate students' security education, laboratory security building and other related scientific research would be carried on.
