The 9th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies, SET 2010, was successfully held on Luwan Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, August 24-27, 2010, with Professor Ruzhu WANG from School of Mechanical Engineering, SJTU (ME-SJTU) as chairperson and Professor Yanjun DAI  from ME-SJTU as  secretary-general. The conference was jointly hosted by SJTU, University of Nottingham and the International Society on Sustainable Energy Technologies. Meanwhile, it also received support from the National Natural Science Foundation, Shanghai Society of Refrigeration, and Shanghai Solar Energy Society. Vice President Huang Zhen, on behalf of SJTU, gave a welcome remark on the opening ceremony. Vice President Wu Dan, from the respective of the university, delivered a speech.
 

Over 410 representatives from over 40 countries and regions participated the event with 360 papers being formally accepted. VIPs attending the conference included editors-in-chief of five international journals on energy; XU Jianzhong, CAS Acadmician; WANG Zhifeng, chief expert in the National Solar and researcher in Institute of Electrical Engineering, CAS; Professor Luo L., director of France’s National Institute of Solar Energy, etc.
 

The International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies has long been holding the aim of promoting sustainable energy use and development, especially paying attention to building energy efficiency and utilization of renewable energy. Taking the chance of 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, the conference is to find and develop sustainable energy development strategies and technologies which are suitable for today's economic conditions.
