On December 11, 2009, the ceremony was grandly held to confer Dr. Wataru Natsu the Guest Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the Mechanical Building at SJTU. The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Jun Ni, the Chief Consultant to President of SJTU, Prof. XI Li-feng, Dean of School of Mechanical Engineering, faculty and students attended the ceremony. Prof. Yuji Furukawa, President of Polytechnic University, attended the Award ceremony as the honored guests.
 
Prof. Jun Ni briefly introduced the outstanding academic achievements of Dr. Wataru Natsu, and then officially announced Dr. Wataru Natsu has been appointed as a Guest Professor at SJTU with the certificate. Subsequently, Prof. Wataru Natsu and Prof. Yuji Furukawa, respectively, made the academic reports entitled “Advanced Micro EDM and ECM " and "Advanced Manufacturing R&D in Japan “for the participating students, which embarks a vivid picture of advanced manufacturing in Japan.
 
Prof. Wataru Natsu is a professor at Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He obtained his PHD degree from TUAT, and his bachelor and Master degree from School of Mechanical Engineering at SJTU. After that, he has served successively as deputy section chief of Kuroda Seiko Co., Ltd., assistant professor and Associate Professor of TUAT. In 2008, he was promoted as professor of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.
 
Prof. Wataru Natsu is a distinguished expert in the field of manufacturing who engages in the research on Silicon Wafer Manufacturing and Molding of Precision Machining. He is the Board Member of Electrical Machining Association, the member of Electrical Safety Standards Committee of Japan Machine Tool Builders Association, etc, and also serving as co-editor for 7 journals. He has published 38 Journal papers and 48 conference papers and holds several patents
